In 1964 he commenced practice on his own account. Bernard was very particular with detail and would spend considerable time in the early stages of the design period to ensure that the building not only met the client’s brief and budget, but also the site. His known works include several grandstands in addition to residential work that is characterised by open plan design and the use of natural materials.
